Crossref

Crossref is a service which associates metadata with DOIs. When publishers create a DOI for your article they send metadata about it to Crossref.

Crossref has an integration with ORCID which makes it easy to get new publications into your ORCID profile. You can link your ORCID profile with Crossref. Then when you use your ORCID iD when you publish and a DOI is created, you get notified by ORCID about the new work.

We’ll show you below how to turn on Crossref auto-updates.

Once you link your ORCID iD with your Citation Index profile, then many campus faculty profile pages will also get auto-updated based on your ORCID profile.

Turn on Crossref Auto-updates in ORCID

  1. Visit your ORCID profile
  2. Scroll down to works
  3. Mouse over “Add works” and down to “Search & link”
  4. Scroll down to and click on “CrossRef Metadata Search”
  5. Click on the “Authorize” button

Once you have authorized Crossref you can then use the Crossref Metadata Search to add your works which have DOIs.
