ORCID Delegate Access
You may see the option on the CV service page to delegate access to your ORCID profile to the Libraries. ORCID calls this “trusted individuals”. Some Libraries staff can be added as trusted individuals and help get your profile started.
If you delegate access to the Libraries we can:
- Turn on auto-updates from Crossref and DataCite.
- Add all citations which we know about that have DOIs to ORCID via Crossref Metadata Search.
- Send you an email when we’re done.
This step is completely optional. If you grant us access we can do the heavy lifting to get your profile started.
You can revoke this delegate access at any time through the ORCID interface. When we’re done with your work we’ll include information in the email on how to remove us.
Delegating Access
Visit your ORCID account settings. Scroll down to the “Trusted individuals” section.
Enter the ORCID iD of the user you trust to delegate access to and click search. If you see their name you can click the add button.
You should now see that they are added.
Next to the date access was granted is a garbage can icon. Clicking the icon will revoke access for that user from your account.
The Libraries will be developing better ways to push citations to ORCID profiles. By authorizing the Citation Index to have access to your ORCID account you will be all ready for when we begin offering these new services.
